CHI St. Vincent is seeking a dedicated Advanced Heart Failure Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic Cardiology team. The Nurse Practitioner within the Advanced Heart Failure Program at CHI St. Vincent is a key member of the multidisciplinary team, dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive care to patients with advanced heart failure. This role involves independent and collaborative management of patients across various care settings, including outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations. The NP utilizes advanced clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills to optimize patient outcomes, enhance quality of life, and support the goals of the advanced heart failure program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain medical histories when necessary.
  • Perform physical exams (within established protocol).
  • Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines).
  • Order diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe or recommend medications for prescription for medications and treatment (within protocol guidelines).
  • Provide preventive health screenings and immunizations for adults.
  • Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling.
  • Assure charts are signed off by the doctor within 24 hours and/or according to hospital protocol.
  • Maintain patient’s privacy and confidentiality.
  • Make follow up calls to check patients progress.
  • Assist doctors with phone coverage and hospital rounds.
  • Work closely with other nurses to assure patient flow is efficient.
  • Consult with doctor regarding patient symptoms to assure proper diagnosis and plan of treatment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements
  • Education:
    • Master’s degree or higher in nursing, or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years clinical nursing practice in an acute care setting required.
    • 1-3 years previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an acute care setting or equivalent Registered Nurse (RN) experience required. (Experience in cardiology, critical care, or advanced heart failure preferred).
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Certified Nurse Practitioner (e.g., AGNP, FNP, ACNNP board certification).
    • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Arkansas.
    • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Arkansas.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (BLS-CPR) required.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
